Born on January 15, 1955, Emile Millo Gibson, Jr. was the first of two children to the late Lucille (Watts) and Emile Gibson, Sr. An engaging and inquisitive child, Emile was a Boy Scout and excellent drawing.
Affectionately known to many as Timmy, Emile attended Baltimore City Public Schools, and loved spending summer vacations in Cape May, N.J. along the shore. By age 15 he had developed into quite an athlete and was recruited by Park School to play basketball as the Center. He was the captain of the team who captivated local onlookers including his sister. Dona would come watch him play alongside her father. He received a scholarship to attend Catholic University in Washington, D.C. for basketball, and majored in Political Science and History. He loved partaking in legal conversations with friends and his Uncle, the late Judge Robert B. Watts.
Upon receiving his Bachelor's Degree he went on to work for Baltimore as a Pretrial Release Officer. This endeavor was later followed by work within the D.C. Government and as a Social Worker. He was tickled to join the security team for the TV series, The Wire, for a short assignment as he learned some of the ins and outs of television alongside his sister.
Emile had a charismatic personality, a keen sense of humor, and was quite the dapper dresser. He lived in the moment and possessed a grandiose outlook of how things were, which portrayed a lighthearted and optimistic quality. Emile's love and generosity poured into his family whom he enjoyed spending time with, especially his niece D'ona. He always looked forward to the annual Watts Family Reunion, where he swam, played basketball, caught up on family news and partied.
Emile and first wife, Lorida Clay married in 1986. They divorced after a brief marriage, and she preceded him in death. He met and married his second wife, Anita Gibson in 2008 and moved to Lumberton, North Carolina. Emile cherished his wife and adopted her two children, Israel and Anna, as his own. Anita lovingly took care of Emile, bringing him home from the hospital to their home until his death.
he will be greatly missed and leaves to cherish his memory his wife Anita Gibson, children Israel and Anna, sister , Dona Gibson, niece D'ona Norton, and a host of relatives and friends.
